Rushweed Collection

In this body of work, I aim to find beauty in the overlooked moments of motherhood.

Although I wanted to be a mother for as long as I can remember, the day-in day-out repetition has blindsided me along with the mind-numbing mundane nature of the work. It has been near impossible to avoid facing the widely-held belief that in gaining motherhood you lose yourself. Society, it feels, discards moms especially the art world, when we chose to become mothers.  Through this body of work, the repetition of motherhood is mirrored by repeating the same motif in different compilations and colors. By using dried plant material, beauty is created and gives second life to something forgotten and rendered useless. Similar to the work done in mothering, this body of work shows that beauty can be found anew, in the monotony of motherhood and formerly prized plants.
